Wing Foil Gear Finder
The main goal of the Wingfoil Gear Finder project was to create a user-friendly web application that assists users in finding the most suitable wingfoil gear based on their personal attributes and preferences and compare the recommended gears to make an informed decision about which gear best suits their needs. This was achieved through the development of a sophisticated Gear Finder Calculator that takes into account factors such as gender, height, weight, surfing experience, water type, average wind speed, and wave types.

Additionally, the project aimed to generate revenue by allowing the client to host advertisement spots for different gear vendors. This provided a platform for gear vendors to showcase their products to a targeted audience of wingfoil enthusiasts.
As the lead developer for this project, I converted the previously developed Excel-based gear finder calculator into a fully functional web application. This involved translating complex calculations into web-compatible code and ensuring accurate results based on user input. I designed and implemented custom databases to manage affiliate products from various gear vendors. These databases were integral to the recommendation engine, enabling the sorting of products based on priority and user preferences and allowing users to compare the suggested products side by side, enabling them to make an informed decision about which gear best suits their needs.

The integration of user input into the calculator involved extensive PHP scripting for backend processing, ensuring that each factor, such as gender, height, weight, and more, was considered when generating gear recommendations.
For the website's design and layout, Elementor was used, creating an intuitive and visually appealing user interface. This allowed users to easily interact with the Gear Finder Calculator.

The project leveraged WordPress hooks and actions to introduce custom functionality, ensuring a seamless integration with the WordPress platform. This enhanced the overall website performance and usability.
The Wingfoil Gear Finder project successfully met its main goal by providing users with a powerful tool to find the perfect gear for their wingfoiling adventures. Users can now input their specific details, and the calculator will generate personalized gear recommendations, enhancing their overall experience. Additionally, the inclusion of advertisement spots for gear vendors has created a revenue stream for the client, making the project financially rewarding. Overall, my contributions to this project involved converting a complex offline tool into a dynamic and user-friendly web application, ensuring accurate gear recommendations while providing a platform for gear vendors to showcase their products to a targeted audience.
