The Positive Birth Book project was initiated to address the need for a user-friendly tool allowing expectant parents to create, edit, and share their personalized Visual Birth Plans, as detailed in Milli Hill's influential book, The Positive Birth Book. This tool was created to empower users to plan and communicate their birth preferences effectively.

How It Works:

Card Selection: Users begin by selecting the cards that represent their birth plan preferences. These cards are designed to cover various aspects of the birth plan, making it comprehensive and customizable.

Flexible Editing: Users have the flexibility to remove selected cards, change the order of cards, and add personalized text to customizable cards. This ensures that their birth plan is tailored to their specific needs and preferences.

Account Creation: To enable users to save their birth plans for future reference, they can create accounts. This feature enhances user experience by providing a convenient way to revisit and modify their plans.

Pixel-Perfect UI: The Figma design was meticulously translated into a pixel-perfect web user interface, ensuring a visually appealing and intuitive experience for users.

WordPress Integration: WordPress hooks and actions were integrated into the project to bring the birth planner to life within the WordPress environment. This allows seamless integration with the WordPress CMS and ensures smooth functionality.

Dynamic Functionality: A combination of PHP and jQuery was utilized to implement the birth planner's dynamic features. Users can add new birth plans, edit existing ones, share them on social media platforms, and even save them as printable PDF documents for easy reference and sharing with healthcare providers.

Outcome:

The Positive Birth Book project successfully translates the concepts from Milli Hill's book into an interactive and practical online tool. It empowers expectant parents to take control of their birth plans and effectively communicate their preferences. The combination of WordPress, PHP, and jQuery ensures that the tool is both user-friendly and functional, providing a valuable resource for individuals preparing for childbirth.
